Ourika Valley

The Ourika valley is a typical region of the High Atlas. It is particularly green throughout the year and traversed by the Oued (River). This tour, not to be missed if one has a little spare time, will allow you to discover the Atlas and it’s valley inhabited by Berber tribes. The extreme point, Setti Fatma, is 65 kilometers South of Marrakech. The valley is punctuated by a string of douars (villages) attached to the hillside and water is everywhere, winding through the meadows and irrigating fields and orchards.

Many Marrakchis have second homes in the Ourika Valley, or simply take hostels or hotels when the temperatures of their city become very high. Setti Fatma, 1500 meters above sea level, is a pleasant village where it is possible to take many walks. The typical mountain trek which leads to a cascade of 7 waterfalls is an absolute must do. The walk takes between 1 – 4 hours, and is dependent on fitness levels.
